A Community United in Love and Support
The Sierra Leone Humanitarian Organisation (SLHO) Rotterdam extends its heartfelt appreciation to everyone who attended and supported the funeral and burial ceremony of our beloved sister, Joyce, the cherished wife of our member, Mr. Charles Aba Conteh, and the loving mother of Penita, Kinsly, and Kelssy.
The funeral and burial ceremony, held on 23 September 2026 in Rotterdam, brought together family members, friends, community leaders, and representatives from the Sierra Leonean, Surinamese, and Dutch communities to pay their final respects and celebrate the life of a woman who was deeply loved and respected.
The ceremony was conducted with dignity, respect, and compassion, and all arrangements proceeded smoothly. We are especially grateful to Pastor Rolland and Pastor Clement, who officiated the service and shared words of comfort, faith, and hope with the bereaved family and all those in attendance.
A touching tribute was delivered by Joyce’s sister, Manuela, who reflected on Joyce’s life, love, and the lasting memories she leaves behind. Mr. Charles Aba Conteh also delivered an emotional tribute to his beloved wife, expressing gratitude for the years they shared together and thanking everyone for their prayers, support, and solidarity during this difficult period.
The Chairman of SLHO Rotterdam, Mr. Mustapha Kabba, welcomed attendees on behalf of the organisation and conveyed SLHO’s condolences to the Conteh family, emphasizing the importance of unity and community support during times of loss. The programme was professionally coordinated by Mr. Sorie Ibrahim Kargbo, who served as Master of Ceremonies (MC) and guided the proceedings with dignity and respect.
Behind the scenes, members of SLHO worked tirelessly to ensure that every aspect of the ceremony was properly organised. From planning and coordinating the event to preparing and serving food for guests, our volunteers demonstrated the spirit of service, compassion, and solidarity that lies at the heart of our organisation.
We were deeply encouraged by the overwhelming support shown by the wider Sierra Leonean community, as well as members of the Surinamese and Dutch communities. The large turnout reflected the strong bonds of friendship, unity, and mutual support that exist among us. The presence, prayers, kind words, and contributions of so many people brought comfort and strength to the Conteh family during this difficult time.
As we share photographs from the ceremony, we remember not only a day of farewell but also a powerful demonstration of community spirit. The gathering reminded us that even in times of sorrow, we are stronger when we stand together and support one another.
On behalf of the leadership and membership of SLHO Rotterdam, we extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the funeral and burial ceremony. A special thank you goes to all volunteers, community members, religious leaders, friends, and well-wishers whose support helped make the day a dignified and fitting tribute to the life of sister Joyce.
May the soul of Sister Joyce rest in perfect peace, and may her memory continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
